Most advanced lab panels, peptides, and compounded therapies are not covered. However, many clients use HSAs or FSAs, and basic labs may be eligible for partial reimbursement.
The time it takes to receive your lab results depends on the complexity of the tests ordered. Typically:
- Standard lab panels return results in approximately 5–7 business days
- Comprehensive panels may take 10–14 business days or longer
Many of the advanced tests we offer involve in-depth analysis, which can require more processing time. These tests are chosen for their precision and clinical value, even if that means a slightly longer turnaround.
While faster testing options do exist, they often compromise accuracy. At Optara Health, we choose labs and methodologies that reflect our high standards of care—not just speed.
We remain committed to improving efficiency and continue to evaluate emerging lab technologies to ensure we’re delivering the most accurate, timely results possible.
We understand the expectation:
“Why can’t I get my prescription filled in 15 minutes like I do at the local pharmacy?”
At Optara Health, medication fulfillment is a multi-step process involving multiple teams and specialized compounding pharmacies to ensure accuracy, safety, and personalization. Here’s what happens once your order is placed:
1. Order Review & Submission
Our team manually reviews your order to ensure accuracy, then submits it through secure portals to one or more compounding pharmacies. Each pharmacy has its own process, and orders must be submitted individually.
2. Physician Authorization
Your provider must personally review and authorize each prescription before it’s released for compounding. If multiple pharmacies are involved, this step is repeated for each one. Providers are also seeing patients during the day, so approvals are typically done once daily.
3. Compounding & Quality Control
Unlike traditional retail pharmacies, compounding pharmacies create your medications from scratch at the time of the order. Depending on the complexity of your prescription and the number of items, this can take up to 24 hours. After compounding, your order goes through a final pharmacy check and then a shipping inspection before it’s packaged and mailed to you. This can take up to 14 days
Optara Health partners only with 503A and 503B FDA-registered and audited compounding pharmacies. This ensures that each prescription is held to the highest quality standards and tailored to your specific needs.
At Optara Health, we offer diagnostic lab testing on a direct-pay basis, meaning we do not bill insurance or provide documentation for insurance reimbursement.
Because of this model, we are unable to supply diagnostic or billing codes commonly used for insurance claims.
If you’re seeking reimbursement through insurance, we recommend discussing alternative lab options with your provider or insurer directly.
Once your care team is assigned, you’ll receive instructions on how to connect with your Optara Health provider or wellness coordinator. Communication typically happens through the contact information provided during your intake process.
